We are guests of the Lions Club
Jr Wildcats is fortunate to practice at the Wright City Lions Club. The building is a community facility, not a permanent wrestling-only room. Other organizations, rentals and activities use the space, including regular weekend use.
That means our wrestling mats and equipment must be set up for wrestling and then the facility must be returned for other community activities.
Weekly setup
Club volunteers handle most weekly setup before practices begin. Families are not expected to leave work or school simply to be present when the room can be prepared.
Help after the final practice of the week
Wrestlers and parents who are present at the final practice of the week should plan to help with teardown and cleanup. Because the Lions Club has weekend activities and rentals, including regular Sunday use, this work normally has to happen every week.
Jobs depend on age and ability. They may include helping with mats, putting away equipment, collecting cones or light items, picking up the room, cleaning, carrying appropriate equipment or completing another task assigned by a coach or Board member.
Younger wrestlers can help too. There is usually an age-appropriate job for anyone willing to contribute.
Many hands make light work
Jr Wildcats is a volunteer-run community wrestling club. When families help for a few minutes, teardown can be completed much faster and the work does not fall on the same small group of volunteers each week.
Leave it better than we found it
Taking care of the Lions Club facility and our wrestling equipment is part of being a good guest and a good teammate. We want the groups using the building after us to find it ready for them, just as we appreciate having a place ready for our wrestlers.
